This program does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post- Secondary Education and Future Skills. As such, PTIB did not review this program.
The program is not recognized by the BC Care & Community Health Worker Registry and that graduates are not eligible for registration as a registered Health Care Assistant.
Canada's population has been gradually aging, and the demand for personal care has also increased exponentially. This course is based on the current Canadian labor market's training standards for child care workers and is suitable for practitioners in private households. The course will equip participants with the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to differentiate between the concepts of health and disease, which assist them in their practical application and in their development of effective supportive relationships with people who have health care needs.
Program Duration:Two options, same duration, 15 weeks and 25 weeks
Learning Objectives
● Help the clients meet their needs;
● Maintain a healthy environment in the client’s house;
● Meet client’s nutritional needs according to the Canada’s Food Guide;
● Handle children’s special feeding issues;
● Assist the client with personal care;
● Measure client’s vital signs;
● Bathe an infant, change diapers and feed the infant;
● Attend to new mother’s needs and provide emotional support to her;
● Handle emergencies and perform first aid;
● Engage children with special needs;
● Apply safety rules to all indoor/outdoor activities;
● Ensure daily personal hygiene routines that help prevent spread of infections;
● Help children flourish in all areas of their development;
● Provide emotional support to clients;
Online Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Training does not require approval by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB). As such, the registrar did not review this program.
